some crochet for a change - Vaihteeksi virkattua

Like many other knitters - I love Noro yarns. The colours are amazing and I adore the natural fiber combinations they use. Plus that they have this sort of little bit rustic feel to them... The only problem with Noro is that the yarns are quite pricey - and somehow manage to look almost always better on the skein than on the actual knitted project. So when I realised that I could try - not to knit - but crochet my Noro yarns - it was a revelation.

This neck piece (as it is more for decoration really than for warmth...) is the first one I've crocheted. I used leftover Noro Yuzen for it - and tried to figure out how to make those stars from Harmaas Ravelry photos.

Only when I was very close to finishing this piece I started checking everybody elses versions and realised that I should have made 6-pointed stars instead of 5-pointed ones.... that way connecting stars would have been much easier.... Well - my version is a bit more , should we say "organic" version then. And I like it - so no harm done there. Lesson learned here: next time - check ALL the photos available and only then try to cypher out the pattern - not before!
Pattern: had none available - used ravelry photos as guidance (the original design is this one)
Yarn: Noro Yuzen (used all I had in stash - approx. 80g total)
Hook: 4mm

In any case - I like the look of Noro so much that I'm making crochet flowers out of Sekku - these should become a nice scarf/shawl for summer...
Tästä innostuneena olen virkkaillut myös Sekkua kukiksi - niistä pitäisi tulla kesäinen huivi, kunhan saan kaikki 2 kerää virkattua.

I agree with you about the Noro and you are making very nice things out of it. Do you have a pattern for these flowers?

Sigrun: nope - but I'm trying to follow a tutorial I found in Ravelry. It is photos only - so I'm not sure if I'm actually making the flowers correctly - but at least mine look nice enough for me...:-D
Tutorial is here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-flower-tutorial-2
