Thank you socks - Kiitos-sukat

I knitted these stripy socks as a thank you gift for 'a good fairy'. I used the same yarn as in the rainbow socks and added the grey Viking Vilma for a second stripe colour. I hope the recipient will like these.

Rainbow socks - Sateenkaarisukat

A pair of cheerful socks for my eldest daughter. Just because.
A top-down sock with french heel and grafted toe. Love that yarn!

Fluffy the cold beater - Pehmolämpöä

The spring has arrived - already! It is +8 degrees and the sun is shining. No more snow to be seen and I feel so happy about this unusually early change of the season. It is a bit funny, then, to show photos from a few weeks back when we still had some snow...

Because look at that! I finished my angora fair-isle cardigan. And I like it very very much.

Pattern: Masquerade by Louisa Harding
Yarn: Louisa Harding Kimono angora pure in #5 green  and coral
Needles: 3,25mm & 3,75mm

It is a pretty little cardigan with  geometric borders  and a simple all over dot pattern knitted in fair isle technique.  I modified the fair isle pattern a bit. I started knitting this already in october but somehow did not progress that speedily with it.

Then came December and the awful and cruel videos of how angora rabbits are treated in some places in China appeared all over social media. Somehow knitting an angora cardigan didn't feel right at all and I went and wrote to Designer Yarns (the main distributor of Louisa Harding yarns + Noro + Debbie Bliss et all) asking them to clarify how their fibres are sourced and are they actually aware where the fibres they use are coming from. I got a very prompt answer claiming that they are using fibre only from producers that are handling animals ethically etc.. After this email conversation I can feel a bit more at ease about my chosen yarn.

The cardigan itself is so soft (soft as a bunny?) and warm. I like the way it fits me and in a moment of whimsy I even added one button in contrasting colour just for the fun of it. This one is a winner.
Neuloin tuossa jokin aika sitten angoralangasta ihanaista vintage-tyylistä neuletakkia.

Tuli oikein ihana. (ja niin pehmeä. kuin pupua silittäis...)

last stripes - viimeiset raidat

My olympic knitting project is still in wip stage. Oh well - I had too many other things to tackle so my Peasy cardigan is missing buttons and finishing touches. It is looking promising though.

In the meanwhile I knitted yet another striped Puro sweater for my 6-yr old. This is the fifth sweater that I knit with Puro yarn. (old ones here, and here , and here )And it is likely to be the last of it's kind as I have no more Puro yarn left in my stash as I used every last bit that I could find for this last one. I had my moments of doubt when knitting this as I was determined to use all stash yarn and there were times when the colours did not look right together - but now that the sweater is finished it looks fine. A bit roomy perhaps but kids grow fast.

Pattern: none, a basic top down raglan with high collar.
Yarn: Novita Puro in various colourways including Takkatuli, Ruska, Nuotio, Kukkaketo, Luumu
Needles: 6mm & 5mm
